 Proverbs 3:5-6

5) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thin own understanding. 

6) In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

#1. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart": 

Trusting in God is not a half-hearted commitment; it's a full surrender of one's will and desires to God. The heart in Scripture is often understood as the center of a person's thoughts, emotions, and will. This command invites believers to place their entire confidence in God's sovereignty and goodness. It means relying on His wisdom and not on our own limited perspective. 

#2. "Lean not unto thine own understanding":

This is a clear warning against relying solely on our own wisdom, reasoning, or judgment. Human understanding is finite and often clouded by personal biases, emotions, and experiences. By contrast, God's wisdom is perfect and eternal. This part of the verse encourages believers to recognize that they cannot always see the full picture and that their own understanding can fall short. It calls for humility, acknowledging that God knows best even when we don't understand. 

#3. "In all thy ways acknowledge Him":

To "acknowledge" means to recognize Him and to submit to His guidance in every area of life ----- spiritual, personal, and practical. This is not just about giving God lip service or seeking His approval for things we already plan to do, but rather seeking His will in every decision, large or small. It's an active process of including God in all aspects of our lives. 

#4. "And He shall direct thy paths":

This is a PROMISE from God: if we trust Him completely and seek His guidance, He will direct our paths. The "paths" can refer to the directions of our lives, our decisions, and our daily choices. God will provide guidance, making our way clear and leading us toward His purposes. The word "direct" here implies making our way smooth and straight ---- removing obstacles and providing clarity. 

   A. Complete Trust in God: Proverbs 3:5-6 emphasizes that trusting God requires the entire heart. It calls for a devotion that goes beyond intellectual agreement and moves into complete reliance on His divine wisdom. 

B. God's Wisdom Over Human Wisdom: The verse urges us to abandon self-sufficiency and lean into God's perfect understanding. When we acknowledge God's supremacy in our lives, we open ourselves to His divine direction. 

C. Divine Guidance: The ultimate reward of trusting and acknowledging God in all things is His leadership in our lives. God promises to guide us through challenges and uncertainties, ensuring that we stay aligned with His will. 

This passage is a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and humility in our relationship with God. It encourages us to surrender control and trust His ability to lead us.
