A Godly Woman: Building and Supporting in Christ #2

So as stated in the last post it is necessary to have trust in order to grow in the Lord. You must recognize that you are a sinner and acknowledge that He died for your sins to receive that free gift of salvation. Once you do that you can begin to grow allowing God to work in your life, to remove things that should not be, and guide you down the path that will bring blessings to you and glorify God.

This study is designed to strengthen your relationship with God while equipping you to support and encourage the women around you. It will focus on biblical principles for women in different roles: as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. It will show you how to encourage and uplift other women through prayer and action. It includes reflection on scripture, questions for persona application and insights on how to grow closer to the Lord.

So, we are going to start with:

A Women's Identity in Christ

When it comes to understanding our identity, it's crucial to begin at the very beginning. Genesis 1:27 provides the foundation for this understanding:

Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Many people read this verse and mistakenly think that because we are made in God's image, we are somehow gods ourselves. Let's address this misconception clearly: we are not gods; we are simply made in His image. To help clarify, think of it this way: just as you may look like your parents, you are not your parents. You are an image or reflection of them, but you are not them.

In the same way, both men and women were created in the image of God. As women, our value and identity are found in this truth--that we are made in God's likeness. This truth is essential for building a life that is rooted in God's purpose for us. Our identity is no determined by societal roles or expectations, but by who we are in Christ.

As you reflect on your identity, remember you are God's creation, uniquely and wonderfully made. Your worth is not tied to what you do or how the world defines you, but rather to the fact that you are made in the image of your Creator. This is where true identity begins.

When it comes to understanding our identity, it's helpful to ask ourselves some key questions that can guide us toward a deeper truth:

How do you define your worth as a woman?

How can you remind yourself daily that you are made in the image of God and that's enough?

How does your identity in Christ change the way you view your roles in life?

The world often ties our worth to external factors like accomplishments, appearance, or the approval of others. But in Christ, our identity is rooted in something far more enduring—who He says we are. We are His beloved daughters, fearfully and wonderfully made. This powerful truth has the potential to reshape how we approach every area of life. Unfortunately, Satan often works to keep us from fully recognizing and believing this truth.

But trusting in God to define our worth and continually meditating on His promises helps keep us grounded in His truth, especially when the world tries to pull us in different directions. Consider incorporating practices into your daily life that remind you of who you are in Christ.:

Speak the truth aloud. Declare over yourself the promises of God and identity He has given you.

Journaling. Reflect on what this truth means to you personally, and how it impacts your life and roles.

Prayer. Set aside time each day to thank God for your identity in Him and ask for His strength to live out His purpose in your life.

When you fully surrender to the role God has given you, thanking Him for it, you will feel the weight of the world's expectations lift. There is a profound peace in accepting the God-given purpose for your life.

The world bombards us with conflicting messages about what it means to be a woman—pressures to look, act, or achieve in certain ways. But when we rest in the truth that our identity is anchored in Christ, it becomes something unshakable. In Him, we find a steady foundation, and in that foundation, we discover the freedom and peace that comes from knowing who we truly are.
