A Godly Woman: Building and Supporting in Christ #4

 The Godly Mother

Now just like the wife, some of you are not mothers yet but like I pointed out on the last lesson it never hurts to learn to be prepared for the day God makes you a mother. And know this sometimes woman cannot have children physically but there are more ways to be a mother. So, learn what it means to be a Godly Mother.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Reflection: As a mother, your role is crucial in shaping the next generation. Your influence is profound, and it is your responsibility to nurture and teach your children in the ways of the Lord. Your love, discipline, and guidance will impact their faith and character.

This is not about just teaching them right from wrong, but about leading them in the way that aligns with God's will. Your love reflects the heart of God, and through nurturing, you demonstrate the grace, patience, and consistency that God shows us. Through discipline, you guide them towards righteousness, helping them understand God's standards. And through wisdom, you equip them to navigate the challenges of life, with a firm foundation in Christ.

The impact of a godly mother goes beyond your children’s childhood. The lessons and examples you set will stay with them throughout their lives, shaping not just their actions, but their character and faith. Your nurturing influence will continue to guide them, long after they leave home, ensuring that the faith you instill in them will endure.

Here are some questions to ask yourself about this lesson:

#1. How can you show your children God's love and faithfulness through your actions?

#2. How can you teach and correct your children in a way that shows wisdom?

For the third question I am going to give you some things to think about to better help you answer and relate with the question.

#3. How can you pray for your children to grow in their faith and stay safe from harm?

Praying for Your Children's Spiritual Growth and Protection

Praying for your children’s spiritual growth and protection is one of the most powerful ways to support them in their walk with the Lord. As parents, you have the privilege of interceding for your children, asking God to guide, protect, and shape their hearts and minds. Here are some ways to pray for your children's spiritual development, along with Scriptures and example prayers to help you get started:

A. Pray for Their Salvation
Scripture: John 14:6
The foundation of your child’s spiritual journey begins with knowing Jesus as their Savior. Pray for their hearts to open to the gospel at an early age and for them to fully embrace the truth of Christ.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, I pray that my children come to know You personally and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. May they experience the fullness of Your grace and salvation at an early age and live their lives devoted to You.”

B. Pray for Their Spiritual Development and Maturity
Scripture: Colossians 1:9-10
As your children grow, pray that they will mature in their relationship with God, learning to seek His will and grow in understanding of His Word.
Example Prayer:
“Father, help my children grow in wisdom and understanding of Your Word. May they develop a strong relationship with You, and may their faith mature as they grow. Let them seek You daily in prayer and the Bible.”

C. Pray for Protection from Temptation and Evil
Scripture: Matthew 6:13, Psalm 91:11
The world is full of temptations and spiritual dangers. Pray that God will protect your children from the enemy’s lies and keep them safe from harm.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, I ask for Your protection over my children from the temptations and dangers of this world. Keep them safe from the enemy's lies and deceit and surround them with Your angels to guard them in all their ways.”

D. Pray for Their Friendships and Influences
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:33
Pray that God will surround your children with friends who encourage their faith and help them grow into the people He created them to be.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, surround my children with friends that will encourage them in their faith. Protect them from negative influences and help them choose companions who will build them up in Your truth.”

E. Pray for Their Obedience and Respect for Authority
Scripture: Ephesians 6:1-3
Pray that your children will honor God and respect the authority figures in their lives, including you as parents, teachers, and church leaders.
Example Prayer:
“Father, help my children to honor and respect You, as well as the authority figures in their lives—whether it’s us as parents, teachers, or leaders in their church. Teach them to obey Your commands and walk in Your ways.”

F. Pray for Strength to Stand Firm in Their Faith
Scripture: 1 Peter 5:9
Pray that your children will stand strong in their faith, even when facing challenges or pressures from the world.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, I pray that my children will stand firm in their faith and not be swayed by the pressures and distractions of the world. May they remain strong in their belief, even when faced with challenges.”

G. Pray for Wisdom in Their Choices
Scripture: James 1:5
Pray that your children will have wisdom as they make decisions in all areas of their lives, including their studies, friendships, and future plans.
Example Prayer:
“Father, give my children wisdom as they make decisions. Help them to discern Your will in every situation, whether it’s in their studies, friendships, or future plans. Guide them to make choices that honor You.”

H. Pray for Their Hearts to Be Tender to God's Leading
Scripture: Ezekiel 36:26
Pray that God will soften your children's hearts and make them receptive to His voice and guidance.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, soften my children's hearts to Your voice. May they be receptive to Your Holy Spirit, quick to listen to Your guidance, and open to growing in their relationship with You.”

I. Pray for God's Provision and Blessing
Scripture: Philippians 4:19
Pray that God will provide for all of your children’s needs—spiritual, emotional, and physical—and that they will experience His blessings in every area of their lives.
Example Prayer:
“Father, I pray that You will provide for all my children’s needs—physical, emotional, and spiritual. May Your blessings be upon them, and may they see Your hand at work in their lives every day.”

J. Pray for Their Future
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11
Pray that God will guide your children’s future and lead them into the plans and purposes He has for them.
Example Prayer:
“Lord, I pray for my children’s future, that You would direct their steps and lead them to fulfill the purposes You have for them. May they grow into the people You’ve created them to be and use their lives for Your glory.”

By praying for your children in these ways, you’re not only covering their spiritual growth and protection but also partnering with God in shaping their futures. These prayers, backed by Scripture, will help you speak life into your children’s hearts and bring God's will into every area of their lives. May your prayers be a powerful tool in guiding your children toward a life of faith, hope, and love in Christ.

Like always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Good Night
