Proverbs 27:17 (KJV) reminds us: “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

As a godly woman, you have the opportunity to be a sharpener in the lives of those around you—especially the younger ones.

While you may not be a mother, you can still be an example of faith, love, and wisdom. Whether you have biological nieces and nephews or close relatives, you can influence them to grow in Christ. Let’s dive into a few questions for reflection.

How can you serve as a role model to younger women in God?

You can serve, just as Jesus served us. Throughout the Bible, we see women like Ruth, Esther, and Mary—each serving with love, wisdom, and humility. This is the kind of service we’re called to: not the modern idea of service but one rooted in compassion and faith. When we serve, we don't just do tasks; we serve with intentional love and patience. Our lives can be a testimony of Christ in action, showing the younger women in our lives how to walk in faith, even when they disagree or question. They may not always agree with you spiritually, but they should never be able to say you didn’t show them Jesus through your actions.

In what ways can you invest in their relationship to help them grow in Christ?

Investment takes time and intentionality. It’s about prayer, support, and most importantly, listening. Today’s young women crave to be heard. Often, they want to feel that what they say matters. If we truly listen, we can guide them with wisdom and care. And sometimes, we must also be patient, giving them the space to open up. When we listen, we give them more than just a conversation—we give them an opportunity to feel valued. As you stay in touch, keep praying for their spiritual growth and their hearts to be drawn closer to Christ. Investing spiritually and emotionally means being present, offering encouragement, and never giving up on their journey of faith.
